Malaysian woman kills six with sword
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): A Malaysian woman killed six people,
including four young children, after running amok with a sword on
Thursday, police said.
A 33-year-old woman was detained after the killings at Miri in
the eastern state of Sarawak on Borneo island, said local chief
of detectives Victor Gopal.
Those killed were the suspect's mother, Moi See Kam, 55; three
of her grandchildren, Bernard Teng, aged 2, Phang Chiang Soon, 3,
and Darren Chang, 1; a neighbor, Elizabeth Teh, 40, and Teh's 1-
year-old grandson, Yong King Seng.
Gopal, quoted by Bernama news agency, said the suspect
suddenly set upon her mother and the three children in the house.
She moved on to the neighbor's home and slashed Teh and her
grandson after Teh's husband tried unsuccessfully to overpower
her.
Police have not discovered a motive for the killings, he said.
