A Malaysian tourist fell while climbing Mount Rinjani in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), earlier this afternoon. The female victim, identified as Chye Connsynn, sustained spinal injuries and remains stranded at Pelawangan Sembalun as helicopter evacuation has been hindered by poor weather conditions. As of Monday night, she is confirmed to be alive.

Sembalun Police Chief Inspector Lalu Subadri stated the victim has spinal injuries but is still able to communicate. “She is currently at Pelawangan Sembalun, alive with spinal injuries and able to communicate,” Subadri told detikBali on Monday evening (25 May 2026).

He added that the helicopter evacuation was initially planned but could not proceed due to adverse weather. “Weather conditions are currently unsuitable, so evacuation will take place tomorrow morning,” he explained.

Once evacuated, the victim is set to be flown directly to a hospital in Bali for intensive treatment. Meanwhile, police have been unable to provide a full incident timeline or detailed victim identification due to communication network issues.

“Currently, the incident details and full victim identity cannot be obtained due to communication constraints,” he concluded.
