Malaysian students abroad cautioned
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi warned Malaysian students abroad on Sunday to beware of foreigners, the official Bernama news agency reported.
The report said Abdullah expressed regret some students were being "used" by foreigners to criticize the government through the Internet.
"Some of the websites operate from overseas like the United States, London, Paris and all over the place, possibly using Malaysian students and sponsoring them," he was quoted as telling reporters in the northern city of Penang.
Ibrahim Ali, deputy minister in the prime minister's department, reportedly said the ruling party had come across 3,000 "lies" in the past two months on areas such as the independence of the Malaysian judiciary to the role of the attorney general.
