Malaysian sex syndicate busted
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian authorities have busted a syndicate in Malaysia's northern Penang state that brought in foreign transvestites to work in the sex industry, a report said on Tuesday.
Four transvestites from Thailand and two Indonesians, aged between 20 and 28, were nabbed during a raid last week, immigration director Mohamad Saad Mohamad Akhir was quoted as saying by The Sun daily.
"The modus operandi of the syndicate is to bring them in and register them at hotels," he said. "They are taken out in a car after 10.00 p.m. to solicit and are chauffeured back to the hotels with their clients."
Two immigration officers posing as clients paid 70 ringgit (US$18) for each transvestite, and an additional 50 to 75 ringgit for "special services," the newspaper said. The six are likely to be blacklisted and deported after legal action has been taken, it added.
