Malaysian police kill three Indonesians
MALAYSIA: Malaysian police shot and killed three Indonesian men who were high on the wanted list during a predawn shootout in the southern Johor state, news reports said on Thursday.
The incident, in which no police officers sustained injuries, was sparked when the suspects, who were traveling in a car, tried to outrun a police vehicle after realizing they were being tailed.
The victims' car crashed into a lamp post, forcing the men out into the streets where they began firing at the police, said Musa Hassan, head of the criminal investigation department.
After a brief exchange of bullets, the trio was gunned down, police said.
Police recovered two revolvers, one pump-action gun and a large machete from the men's vehicle, Musa told the Star newspaper.
The deceased were believed to be part of a gang blamed for a spate of high-profile robberies in the state, he said. -- DPA
