Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim to Discuss Geopolitical Issues with Prabowo
Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, will meet the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, on Friday (27/3), to discuss the current geopolitical situation.
“Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will make a special visit to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, on 27 March 2026, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto,” stated the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (26/3).
Wisma Putra conveyed that the visit will focus on recent geopolitical developments, particularly conflicts in West Asia, and their effects on regional stability and the global economy, including implications for Malaysia and Indonesia.
Wisma Putra also stated that these latest developments require comprehensive, careful, and coordinated discussions between the two countries to align positions and strengthen strategic cooperation in responding to the situation.
In that context, the meeting between the two leaders is expected to intensify diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and ensure the sustainability of crucial global trade routes and supply chains that are vital for the welfare of the people of both nations.
The meeting will also affirm the importance of strengthening ASEAN’s role as a united and principled bloc, enabling the region to act collectively in maintaining peace, preserving regional stability, and protecting economic resilience amid global uncertainties.
