Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Meets Prabowo in Jakarta to Discuss War's Impacts
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto received Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026). Vehicles from the Malaysian delegation were observed parked at the palace around 4:40 PM WIB. A Mercedes Benz was seen parked at the entrance of the State Palace, along with a delegation van. However, the meeting between the two heads of state could not be witnessed, as the event was held behind closed doors. Anwar Ibrahim’s arrival with his delegation in Indonesia was visible on his official Instagram. Anwar was personally welcomed by Foreign Minister Sugiono at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. “Welcome to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, to hold a meeting with my friend, President Prabowo Subianto,” he said. PM Anwar stated that the meeting would discuss developments in the conflict occurring in the Middle East, which impacts the ASEAN region. “Insya-Allah, this meeting will be fully utilised to discuss the developments of the increasingly acute Western Asia conflict, as well as its implications for regional stability and the global economy, including its effects on Malaysia and Indonesia,” he wrote.
