Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Meets Prabowo at the Palace, Discusses Middle East Conflict
JAKARTA - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026) to meet Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
From observations at the location, the official Malaysian-plated vehicle convoy arrived around 4:30 PM WIB and proceeded directly into the palace grounds.
Several patrol motorcycles and escorts with Indonesian and Malaysian flags accompanied the arrival.
The meeting between the two national leaders was held behind closed doors.
He stated that the meeting with Prabowo would discuss global geopolitical developments, particularly the conflict in the Middle East.
“Insya Allah, this meeting will be fully utilised to discuss the developments of the increasingly acute Western Asia conflict,” wrote Anwar.
Previously, Anwar arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base and was welcomed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.
Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yvonne Mawengkang, conveyed that the meeting also discussed Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral cooperation.
In addition, the two leaders exchanged views on the global situation and joint steps through ASEAN to mitigate the economic impacts of the conflict.
“Particularly the situation in the Middle East, as well as joint efforts through ASEAN to mitigate the economic impacts of that conflict on regional stability and welfare,” she said.
