Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Launches PMX AI, an AI Avatar Accessible via WhatsApp

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has officially introduced an artificial intelligence (AI)-based avatar of himself to the public. The innovation aims to strengthen communication between the government and the public through digital platforms.

Through the AI avatar, Anwar Ibrahim has opened an interactive service via WhatsApp. Members of the public may submit questions or convey their aspirations to the digital version of the Prime Minister via the number +60378850523. The system will provide automatic and instant answers according to the questions posed.

“I sincerely hope that you can convey your views, concerns and aspirations directly through this avatar. I believe the country will only become better if its development and policies are grounded in the voice and will of the people,” Anwar said in his official statement in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (19/7).

The service has been named PMX AI. The name refers to the moniker “PMX” attached to Anwar Ibrahim as Malaysia’s tenth Prime Minister, combined with the acronym AI.

The technology behind PMX AI was developed by the company Zetrix AI. The avatar does not merely give random answers; it has been “trained” using a comprehensive database.

Beyond serving as a channel for public aspirations, PMX AI is designed to help Malaysians access government information more easily. The service also provides guidance on the education sector, career development and information on job vacancies.

Based on checks on Sunday evening, the WhatsApp-based service experienced technical difficulties and was temporarily inaccessible, likely due to high user traffic during its inaugural launch.

The move marks Malaysia’s effort to adopt cutting-edge technology for public transparency and bureaucratic efficiency under Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership. (Ant/H-3)
