Malaysian National Caught Smuggling 1kg of Meth in Rectum and Corset at Lombok Airport
The National Narcotics Agency of West Nusa Tenggara (BNNP NTB) has foiled an attempt to smuggle nearly one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine carried by a Malaysian national. The drugs were discovered hidden in a corset worn by the suspect and inside his rectum.
The suspect, identified as Mohd Anwar, 33, was apprehended upon arrival at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM). BNNP NTB Chief Brigadier General Marjuki stated that officers found three packages of methamphetamine concealed on the suspect’s body.
‘Three clear plastic packages were found strapped to his body using a corset, two packages were inside his rectum, and one was in his possession,’ Marjuki said on Wednesday (29/7/2026).
The net weight of the seized methamphetamine totalled 991.908 grammes. According to his confession, Mohd Anwar brought the illicit goods directly from Malaysia under the orders of an individual named Ahmad Dhani, also known as AD.
‘The suspect admitted he was promised a reward of 9,000 Malaysian Ringgit, or approximately Rp38.8 million,’ he stated.
Anwar claimed he did not know the intended recipient of the drugs. He said only Ahmad Dhani was in contact with the receiver.
‘We conducted further investigation and managed to arrest an individual with the initial N,’ he added.
N is a 45-year-old resident of Bertais, Sandubaya District, Mataram City, NTB. He is suspected of being the person assigned to collect the methamphetamine from Anwar.
During interrogation, N confessed he was ordered to pick up the drug package by an individual known as P, who is believed to be from the East Lombok region.
‘N received a fee of Rp4 million to collect the package,’ he said.
The case remains under further investigation. Meanwhile, the methamphetamine seized on 20 June 2026 has been destroyed, with a portion retained for laboratory testing and trial evidence.
Both suspects are charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and/or Article 609 paragraph (2) letter a in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
