Malaysian man deceived in hotel

JAKARTA (JP): A Malaysian woman had reportedly stolen goods worth Rp 100 million (US$41,666) from a Malaysian man whom she met and slept with in a hotel, on Jl. Kramat Raya, in Central Jakarta yesterday.

A police sergeant at the Central Jakarta Police precinct said Komarudin Kamba, 51, met the woman, identified as Kristina, in Acacia Hotel Wednesday night.

He said Komarudin who lived in North Jakarta booked a room with Kristina's Malaysian passport.

"Komarudin woke up at 8 a.m. and found that the woman had left with his belongings," the officer said.

He said the woman made away with three diamond rings, a gold necklace, a gold belt buckle, a Rolex wristwatch, as well as US$150 and Rp 1.5 million in cash from the victim.

It was presumed that the woman put barbiturates into Komarudin's drink before he slept, the sergeant said.

It was believed that the woman had invited a male accomplice to the victim's room later and stole the goods, he said. "It was probably committed by a crime syndicate." (jun)
