BANGKOK (AP): The king of Malaysia, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul
Aziz Shah, arrived in Thailand on Monday for a four-day state
visit to cement long-standing bilateral ties, Thai officials
said.
Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest
reigning monarch, and his wife Queen Sirikit gave the Malaysian
king and Queen Tuanku Siti Ishah a red-carpet welcome at
Bangkok's military airport.
The Malaysian royal couple later were presented with a
ceremonial key to the city of Bangkok and were scheduled to be
the guests of honor at a dinner hosted by the Thai king.
The royal couple will also visit the old Thai capital of
Ayutthaya and the northern city of Chiang Mai -- where they will
observe an elephant show -- before their departure on Thursday.
