Malaysian industrial output up 4.1%

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's industrial output rose 4.1 percent in
August compared to the same period a year ago and increased 0.6
percent from July, official data showed on Friday.

The Statistics Department said the year-on-year increase
reflected 7.4 percent growth in the electricity sector and a 4.6
percent increase in manufacturing.

However, it said the mining sector recorded a decrease of 0.9
percent.

Month-on-month, mining output rose 5.1 percent, electricity
was up 2.0 percent but manufacturing declined 0.3 percent. -- AFP
