Malaysian Hospital Digitalisation Becomes Benchmark, HISFARSI Prepares Service Transformation in Indonesia

Healthcare service transformation remains a key focus amid the public’s growing demand for faster, safer, and higher-quality hospital care. In an effort to drive service quality improvements, the Indonesian Hospital Pharmacy Interest Group (HISFARSI) DKI Jakarta conducted an international benchmarking activity in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 23 to 25 June 2026. The activity is part of HISFARSI DKI Jakarta’s commitment to studying best practices in hospital healthcare management. Various aspects were the focus of learning, ranging from hospital system digitalisation and centralised drug management to strengthening the role of pharmacists in clinical services, all of which are considered to have potential for implementation in Indonesia. Chairperson of HISFARSI DKI Jakarta, Apt. Renni Septini, stated that this international benchmarking aims to broaden the insights of hospital pharmacy personnel so they can face the increasingly rapid changes in the health sector. According to her, improving the quality of pharmaceutical services is an inseparable part of efforts to enhance the overall quality of healthcare services. ‘This benchmarking visit is part of HISFARSI DKI Jakarta’s commitment to continuously encourage the improvement of pharmaceutical service quality and hospital healthcare through learning from best practices at the international level,’ said Renni. Renni assessed that hospitals are currently facing increasingly complex challenges. Not only must they provide medical services, but hospitals are also required to keep pace with technological developments and meet public expectations for increasingly high-quality services. She said the role of healthcare workers is no longer solely focused on clinical services. The utilisation of technology, service quality improvement, and patient safety are important elements that must be continuously developed through sustainable innovation. ‘The role of healthcare workers today is not only focused on clinical services, but they are also required to adapt to various changes in the healthcare service system. From the utilisation of technology to improving quality and patient safety, everything requires continuous innovation,’ she added.
