Malaysian economy up 9.9%

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia's economy grew 9.9 percent in the
first quarter of this year on strong manufacturing, construction
and service sector activities, the central Bank Negara said
yesterday.

The gross domestic product figure was higher than the 8.8
percent achieved in the previous corresponding period and 8.8
percent in the preceding quarter.
