Malaysian cops nab 3 Nigerians
KUALA LUMPUR (DPA): Malaysian police have arrested three Nigerians suspected of being members of an international syndicate running a kickback scam which swindled several businessmen, reports said yesterday.
The two men and a woman, said to be in their 30s, had entered Malaysia on student visas. They were nabbed in Kuala Lumpur and on Langkawi Island last week after complaints by their alleged victims, the New Straits Times said.
The trio is accused of cheating a dozen businessmen, including a Japanese, out of 5 million ringgit (US$1.7 million) after they fell for the scam involving a nonexistent business in Saudi Arabia.
The victims were promised kickbacks from a contract supposedly worth $32.5 million in Saudi Arabia.
