Malaysian consul dies in accident
PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: The Malaysian consul in Pontianak, Wan Ahmad Nazam Abdullah, was killed in a car accident on Monday night.
Bernama news agency reported on Tuesday that Wan Ahmad Nazam, 43, died in a head-on collision between the car he was traveling in and a truck.
The Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia, Rastam Mohamad Isa, along with an aide and the driver of the Mercedes-Benz involved in the collision were slightly injured.
The agency said the Malaysians were traveling across the border from Pontianak to Kuching in Malaysia's Sarawak state when a truck traveling in the opposite direction crashed into them as it was trying to overtake another truck.
The driver of the truck has been detained for questioning.
Wan Ahmad Nazam is survived by a wife and three children.
