The five, to be remanded at least a week for questioning, were identified by police as Matlan Marjan, Junaidy Tuah, Matusin Bowie, Gerard Mojiliu and Charles Tindi.

All play for the eastern Sabah state, one of 15 sides in the Malaysian league. Sabah police official Zainuddin Wahab said the five were detained following leads obtained from an arrested Sabah teammate, G. Raveychandran.
