Malaysia Work Trip Keeps Nusron Wahid from Attending KPK Summons Again
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has explained why Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister and National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) head Nusron Wahid failed to attend two summonses for questioning as a witness in an alleged bribery case involving the unblocking of land-use rights (HGB) on land owned by PT Summarecon Agung Tbk in Bogor Regency. The KPK said Nusron missed the summonses because he was on official business in Malaysia.
Acting KPK Director of Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein said the commission had received a letter from Nusron requesting that his questioning be postponed. In the letter, Nusron said he could not attend because he had other engagements.
“We are relying only on the letter from the person concerned,” Taufik Husein told reporters at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (17 October 2026).
“The first time, there was a letter saying he had a conflicting engagement. Then, for the most recent summons, on the 14th, it was an official trip abroad. If I’m not mistaken, to Malaysia,” he continued.
Taufik said investigators would assess the reasons Nusron had given before deciding what action to take next.
“The investigation team will analyse whether those reasons are considered proper and reasonable, given that he listed a conflicting engagement. That will then be evaluated again: whether it warrants issuing a second summons or whether his questioning should be rescheduled,” he added.
Taufik said Nusron had sent an explanation for his absence, and the investigation team would therefore summon him again.
“Yes, the person concerned sent us a letter requesting a postponement. We will reschedule, of course,” Taufik said.
The KPK had resummoned Nusron to testify in the alleged bribery case concerning the unblocking of HGB land owned by PT Summarecon Agung Tbk in Bogor Regency. The second summons was issued for the previous day, but Nusron again failed to attend, having sent the commission a postponement request.
Nusron had also missed the first summons, issued on Wednesday (7 October).
KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said investigators needed Nusron’s testimony to shed further light on the case.
“His testimony is needed by investigators to establish the full structure of the case, so they can conduct further review and analysis and determine whether there were other parties with significant roles besides those already named as suspects,” Budi said at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (7 October).
The KPK has named eight suspects in the alleged bribery case involving the unblocking of Summarecon land in Bogor Regency. It is also investigating suspected buying and selling of positions within the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency.
“As for other alleged receipts, including payments linked to internal rotations, promotions or transfers, the ministry officials are also suspected of receiving payments connected with other land services,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said at the commission’s building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (18 September).
The eight suspects are:
Lampri (LMP), Director General of Land and Spatial Planning Control and Enforcement at ATR/BPN;
Sontang Coin Manurung (SON), Head of the Bogor Regency Land Office I;
Adrianto Pitojo Adi (ADR), President Director of Summarecon;
Arif Sugiyanto (ARF);
Fahd El Fouz, also known as Fahd A Rafiq (FEZ);
Rizal Pahlevi (LEV), a private-sector figure;
Erwin (ERW); and
Muhammad Fakhry (MF).
