Malaysia Welcomes Positive Developments in US-Iran Relations
Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed the positive developments regarding the United States and Iran, which have agreed to the 10-point proposal and will soon engage in dialogue or negotiations in Pakistan.
“I wholeheartedly welcome the latest developments in the current US-Iran war, in connection with the 10-point plan proposed by Iran and positively accepted by the United States,” said Anwar Ibrahim in a statement via Telegram, as quoted in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
According to Anwar Ibrahim, the proposal offers good hope for restoring peace and stability, not only for the region but also for the entire world.
Anwar hopes that the negotiation process will be carried out in good faith and with a strong determination to seek a sustainable resolution to the various issues currently facing the region.
He reminded that peace negotiations will not succeed if the process is shrouded in deception and two-faced games.
He also conveyed sincere congratulations and deep appreciation to Pakistan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their tireless and courageous diplomacy in helping to realise this negotiation moment.
Anwar assessed that Pakistan’s willingness to speak with all parties, without fear or bias, reflects the highest traditions of Muslim solidarity and international responsibility. He stated Malaysia’s readiness to support and complement all such efforts.
“May this be a turning point towards enduring peace. The world cannot afford anything less,” said Anwar Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, according to Iran’s state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Iran stated that the United States has “in principle” accepted the proposal containing 10 points to end the war.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) stated that the proposal will serve as a framework for negotiations to reach a broader agreement, although it did not publicly detail all elements of the plan.
