Malaysia warns of crocodile
KUALA LUMPUR (AP): Bathers have told to keep away from a popular beach because an adult crocodile has been spotted in the sea, a newspaper reported on Monday.
The State Wildlife and National Parks Department has advised swimmers that the beach at Klebang in the western state of Malacca is off-limits, the New Straits Times said.
The department said the crocodile is believed to have slipped into the sea from a nearby river, the paper said.
The director of the department, Mohd. Sharif Daim, said he believed that the reptile had "lost its way and gone into the sea".
The beach, about 10 kilometers from Malacca, is popular for water sport activities and has a children's playground.
