Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry has called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take firm measures in response to attacks affecting the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping group.

“Malaysia urges the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action, including ensuring immediate protection for UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon,” stated the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, or Wisma Putra, in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (5 April 2026).

Malaysia has firmly condemned the ongoing attacks on UNIFIL peacekeeping troops in southern Lebanon, which have led to the deaths and injuries of several UN personnel, including the latest incident on Friday (3 April 2026) in El Addaiseh that injured three Indonesian peacekeepers.

Malaysia stated that these attacks constitute serious violations of international law. The parties responsible must be held accountable.

“We call on all parties to ensure the safety of UN personnel and to reaffirm the importance of respecting the immunity and integrity of UN missions,” Wisma Putra stated.

Previously, the Malaysian government expressed condolences for the fallen Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel in UNIFIL.
