Malaysia to Host Replacement Bahrain GP

Malaysia will host the replacement Bahrain Grand Prix, which is scheduled to take place from 2-4 October. The Sepang International Circuit was selected as the venue after Formula 1’s governing body, the FIA, and the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia agreed to cooperate and shift the race calendar. “We are pleased to confirm that Malaysia will host the Bahrain Grand Prix in 2026,” said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali on Sunday. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated that the change was carefully considered, noting that the Sepang Circuit meets all hosting standards. “Malaysia has long held an important place in Formula 1 history, and the championship’s return to Sepang is a testament to our close relationship with the Motorsports Association of Malaysia, the continued commitment of the Malaysian government, and the strength of international cooperation in our sport,” he added. The Sepang Circuit previously featured on the F1 calendar after its debut in 1999. The Bahrain Grand Prix was originally scheduled for last April, but the conflict between Iran and the United States-Israel impacted several Middle Eastern nations.
