Malaysia to host Le Mans race

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia is to host one leg of next year's
Asia-Pacific series of the historic Le Mans endurance race,
organizers said on Wednesday.

"The Malaysian event is scheduled from Nov. 9 through Nov. 11
2001 at the Sepang International Circuit where an annual Formula
One Grand Prix is already hosted," said Julia Nicholas,
spokeswoman for the organizers.

She said the Asia-Pacific series was introduced last year
following Australia's inclusion. The other legs are held in the
United States, Canada and Europe. The event will include a six-
hour race instead of the original 24-hour race.
