Malaysia sentences Indonesian to death
MALAYSIA: A Malaysian court on Friday sentenced an Indonesian to
death by hanging for trafficking in methamphetamines.
Agus Agil, a 45-year-old carpenter, was charged with
trafficking 298.3 grams of the drug at an airport in central
Selangor state in 1998, the national Bernama news agency
reported.
High Court judge Abu Samah Nordin declared him guilty on
Friday. Drug trafficking carries a mandatory death penalty in
Malaysia, which has executed 229 people for the offense over the
past 30 years. --AFP
