Malaysia, RI mull soccer exchange
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Indonesia may launch an exchange
program for their soccer players to compete in each other's
domestic leagues to boost performance, the Football Association
of Malaysia said on Tuesday.
Sports officials from both sides have discussed placing
several Malaysians on teams playing in Indonesia's home league,
and vice versa, for at least one season, said Raja Ahmad
Zainuddin, vice president of Malaysia's soccer governing body.
Malaysia might try to expand the program to include Thailand,
Singapore and Vietnam if it shows success in helping players
broaden their skills and experience, Raja Ahmad was quoted as
saying by the national news agency Bernama. -- AP
