Malaysia Pledges US$1 Million in Aid to UNRWA

The Malaysian government has pledged US$1 million in aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the agency responsible for assisting Palestinian refugees. The commitment was made during the UNRWA Pledging Conference held in New York on 30 June 2026, according to a statement from Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. The UNRWA Pledging Conference is an official annual meeting or special conference organised by the United Nations General Assembly for member states to announce and commit voluntary contributions. Its purpose is to ensure sufficient and predictable financial support so the agency can continue providing humanitarian aid, education, and health services to Palestinian refugees. Malaysia’s US$1 million contribution will be disbursed annually at a rate of US$200,000 over the period from 2026 to 2030. “Malaysia will continue to support UNRWA so that the agency can carry out its mandate for the Palestinian people,” the Foreign Ministry stated.
