Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - Malaysia believes that repeated raids by Israel into the Al-Aqta Mosque complex are aimed at altering the identity and character of the Muslim holy site.

“These actions are not merely standalone provocations, but are part of a continuous effort by the Israeli Zionist regime to change the identity and character of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and occupied East Jerusalem,” stated the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Malaysia expressed its strongest condemnation of the latest raid into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in East Jerusalem, which took place on 28 September 2026. The raid involved more than a thousand illegal Israeli settlers and senior officials of the regime, led by Israel’s National Security Minister, under the protection of the Israeli military.

Malaysia stated that the repeated incursions by illegal Israeli settlers and senior officials constitute a serious violation of international law, as well as the historical and legal status quo governing East Jerusalem and Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

Malaysia vehemently rejects all such attempts and emphasises that the sanctity of Al-Haram Al-Sharif and the religious rights of Muslim worshippers must be respected and protected.

Malaysia urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take immediate and concrete action to force the Israeli Zionist regime to cease these deliberate and blatant serious violations.

According to Malaysia, the Israeli regime must be held accountable for its ongoing efforts to undermine the historical and legal status quo at Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

Malaysia also reaffirmed its solidarity with the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
