Malaysia: Israeli Attack on Iran Brings Middle East to the Brink of Disaster

Kuala Lumpur — Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has stated that Israeli attacks on Iran have brought the Middle East to the brink of disaster.

“The Israeli attack on Iran, together with the accompanying military actions by the United States, has brought the Middle East to the brink of disaster,” said Anwar Ibrahim in a statement in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Anwar described the initiation of the attack by Israel as a reprehensible attempt to derail ongoing negotiations and drag other nations into a conflict that may prove impossible to contain.

He called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities.

He also urged the United States and Iran to pursue diplomatic channels as a way forward, rather than continuing to escalate tensions, and appealed to the international community to act swiftly without double standards.

In his statement, Anwar also expressed concerns about the safety of Malaysian citizens in Iran and the surrounding region.

Anwar stated he would communicate with regional partners regarding next steps.
