Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - The Malaysian government has expressed appreciation for the late 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, General TNI (Ret.) Try Sutrisno, for his lifetime contributions in strengthening ties between Indonesia and Malaysia. Deputy Foreign Minister Dato’ Lukanisman bin Awang Sauni, in a statement from the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, said Malaysia conveyed its deep condolences on his passing. ‘Malaysia extends its deepest condolences to the government and people of the Republic of Indonesia and also expresses appreciation for the late’s significant contributions as an Indonesian statesman, including in strengthening Malaysia-Indonesia relations,’ Wisma Putra said. Lukanisman on Wednesday (4 March) had signed the Book of Condolences at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur following the death of Try Sutrisno. Earlier, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also conveyed condolences on the death of the sixth Vice President of Indonesia. Anwar described Try Sutrisno as a true statesman. The sixth Vice President of Indonesia Try Sutrisno died at Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta, on Monday (2 March) morning around 07:00 WIB. The late was buried at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery (TMP) in Jakarta, accompanied by a military ceremony led by the 8th President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
