Malaysia honors Michelle Yeoh

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia's favorite leading lady Michelle Yeoh has been awarded a title by the sultan of her home state, newspapers reported on Thursday.

Yeoh starred in the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies and had a leading role in the Oscar-winning movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

The Sultan of Perak, her home state, was due to confer the title of "datuk" later Thursday. The award is the third highest in Malaysia's honors system.

Yeoh, interviewed by The Star while shopping for something to wear to the ceremony, said she was happy with the award. The former Miss Malaysia now lives in Hong Kong.
