KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian companies have been invited to
take part in Bahrain's US$500 million Salman port project,
officials said Monday as the emirate's prime minister began a
three-day visit.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa, who is accompanied by a
55-member delegation including four ministers, received a red-
carpet welcome from Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad earlier in
the day.
He flew into Kuala Lumpur International Airport from the
northern island of Penang, where he had arrived Saturday for a
private visit.
Sheikh Khalifa and Mahathir held talks and witnessed the
signing of two memoranda of understanding on cooperation in
economic and transport matters.
Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar, quoted by Bernama
news agency, said Bahrain had invited Malaysian companies to help
develop the port.
