Malaysia establishes communications command centre to address Middle East crisis
Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - The Malaysian government has established a communications command centre tasked with communicating Malaysia’s economic policies in response to the impact of the Middle East crisis.
The command centre will generally convey to the public the measures to be taken or decided by Malaysia’s National Economic Action Council (MTEN) — an advisory body to the government on economic crisis issues.
“The ministers agreed to establish a communications command centre for MTEN,” said Malaysian Communications Minister and government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil after attending the cabinet meeting in Malaysia on Wednesday.
He stated that the communications command centre plans to hold press conferences daily on a regular basis to explain all government policies through MTEN in response to the impact of the Middle East crisis.
The communications command centre will be led by Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof and will be responsible for coordinating government communication aspects related to responses and measures taken by the government and related bodies regarding the energy crisis and the war situation in West Asia.
In the previous MTEN meeting, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that MTEN had thoroughly examined the developments of the increasingly acute global energy crisis and its implications for the national economy and public welfare.
Anwar called on all citizens to prioritise purchasing local products to boost the domestic economy.
