Malaysia Condemns US-Israeli Attack on Iran, Indonesia Urges All Parties to Exercise Restraint
KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan has stated that Malaysia strongly condemns Israeli attacks on Iran, declaring that the world today does not need a new war.
“These aggressive actions will only add to the suffering of innocent people and open the possibility of a wider conflict. The world today does not need a new war,” Mohamad Hasan said in a statement from Wisma Putra in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
Hasan warned that the actions of the attack are deeply worrying and risk inflaming greater tensions in the region. He argued that the attacks clearly violate the principles of international law, including the Geneva Conventions, resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly, and the principles of the UN Charter.
The Malaysian Foreign Minister asserted that the attacks also violate the sovereignty of a country and threaten regional security and stability. “Whatever the reason given, violence is not the path of settlement,” Hasan said, stressing Malaysia’s condemnation of Israel’s actions and calling for an immediate halt to the attacks. “Negotiations need to be conducted to ensure peace and global stability,” he added.
Indonesia took a more measured approach in its statement, avoiding strong condemnatory language. The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed regret over the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran, which has contributed to military escalation in the Middle East region.
Indonesia called on all sides to exercise restraint and to promote dialogue and diplomacy. The country reiterated the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each nation and resolving differences through peaceful means.
