Malaysia Condemns Provocative Actions of Israeli Minister Entering Al Aqsa

Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - Malaysia has firmly condemned the provocative actions of an Israeli minister who entered the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem on Tuesday (7/4). Malaysia asserts that the action, taken while the compound was closed to Muslims, constitutes a blatant violation of international law, UN resolutions, and the sanctity of the third holiest site for Muslims. The Malaysian Foreign Ministry, or Wisma Putra, stated in a release from Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday that the actions damage regional peace and stability and trample on the religious rights of Muslims around the world. Malaysia emphasises that the protection and respect for Al Aqsa and other holy sites in Jerusalem is a non-negotiable obligation under international law. The Malaysian Foreign Ministry calls for concrete measures to be taken to prevent further violations and to ensure that holy sites in Jerusalem remain safe, protected, and accessible to all worshippers. “Malaysia reaffirms its steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people and its commitment to protecting their religious, cultural, and national heritage,” the Wisma Putra statement said. Malaysia also reaffirms its unwavering support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Previously, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was reported to have entered the Al Aqsa Mosque compound. The action is considered provocative and has drawn condemnation from several Arab countries.
