Malaysia Condemns Israeli Minister's Provocative Incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque

Malaysia has issued a strong condemnation following a provocative intrusion by an Israeli minister, accompanied by extremist settlers, into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. The incursion, which took place on 23 July 2026, was carried out under the protection of the regime’s occupation forces.

Through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, known as Wisma Putra, Malaysia stated that the action constitutes a flagrant violation of the historical and legal status quo governing the holy site. “These actions also represent a serious breach of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions concerning the status of occupied East Jerusalem,” the ministry declared in a statement released in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Malaysia views this provocation as part of a systematic pattern of violations and escalatory actions by the Zionist Israeli regime in occupied East Jerusalem. The government believes these actions are designed to undermine the sanctity of the Holy Site and alter its historical, legal, and demographic character. Such measures are seen not only as a threat to regional peace and stability but also as a blatant disregard for the religious sensitivities of Muslims worldwide.

Malaysia urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take immediate and concrete steps to ensure that Israel ceases all provocative actions and violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Kuala Lumpur stressed that the sanctity of Islamic holy sites must be respected and protected, and that the rights of Muslims to access and perform their religious duties at the site must be guaranteed.

Furthermore, Malaysia reaffirmed its solidarity and support for the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Malaysia’s condemnation of Israel’s occupation practices in the Palestinian territories remains steadfast, as does its firm and consistent policy of barring Israeli nationals from entering its territory, despite pressure from certain members of the United States Congress.
