Malaysia celebrates its 48th Anniversary of Independence
today. Malaysians all over the world are celebrating this joyous
and auspicious occasion with pride and in the spirit of
solidarity and unity.
This pride and solidarity are indicated in the symbol for this
year's commemoration of the Independence.
With the theme Karenamu Malaysia ("Because of You, Malaysia"),
the symbol represents the gratitude and deeply indebted feelings
of the Malaysian people whose culture and politics is based on
the security, prosperity and great achievements of the country.
The blue circle and the yellow moon-star represents a country
that consist of 14 regions where Islam is the official religion
but where others are also allowed, and people live in a safe,
prosperous and united country.
The colors of red, yellow and white in human-shapes represents
the peoples of Malaysia (Pribumis, Chinese, Indians) together
with the opened hands (Karenamu Malaysia) represent the feelings
of gratitude and pride in attain the progress and prosperity in
the blessed land called Malaysia.
They furthermore have the intention to continuing these
achievements in the future by holding hands with the shape of
"V", meaning victory or vision.
