Malang Social Services Department Maps Data for Prospective Rakyat School Students 2026/2027
The Head of the Malang Regency Social Services Department, Pantjaningsih Sri Redjeki, explained in Malang, East Java on Sunday that the data collection process uses a matching mechanism between out-of-school children data and decile one and two household data.
“In preparation for prospective students at Rakyat School for the new academic year 2026/2027, we have already begun mapping. This mapping is related to decile one through two,” said Pantja.
Every child from families registered in decile one and two is a priority for education at Rakyat School.
Pantja explained that the process of mapping prospective students is guided by data contained in the next generation social welfare information system (SIKS-NG) and has been integrated with the national integrated socio-economic data system (DTSEN).
Through this process, the local government can identify how many out-of-school children come from low-income families.
It is known that the population of Malang Regency falling into decile one and two groups totals 541,493 people. Of that number, 24 per cent or approximately 130,221 are school-age children.
Pantja stated that based on preliminary data, 19,335 children in Malang Regency are recorded as having dropped out of school.
“If they fall within that group and are still of school age, they will be prioritised as prospective Rakyat School students,” he said.
Additionally, he explained that the Rakyat School building in Srigonco Village, Bantur District is still under construction and is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
Pantja was also uncertain whether the facility will be immediately used for teaching and learning activities once construction is finished, as decisions regarding operations fall under the authority of the central government.
“For the construction of Rakyat School in Srigonco, work is still in progress. The target is completion in July 2026,” he stated.
