Malang Social Agency: 130 SRMA Prospective Students Registered by PKH Facilitators

The Social, Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning Agency (Dinsos P3AP2KB) of Malang City, East Java, has stated that 130 prospective students for the People’s High School (SRMA) for the 2026/2027 academic year have been registered by Family Hope Programme (PKH) facilitators. “We were asked to screen prospective SRMA students. Based on reports from our PKH facilitator colleagues, around 130 prospective new students have been registered,” said Head of Dinsos P3AP2KB Malang City Donny Sandito in Malang City on Thursday. The data of registered SRMA candidates will first undergo administrative verification or selection, so that new students can match the study group quota. However, he continued, these new students may initially be placed in areas around Malang City that already have permanent People’s School buildings, such as in Malang Regency, Blitar, or Pasuruan. “Because Malang City does not yet have a permanent People’s School building, for the time being students are studying at the pilot People’s Junior High School (SRMP) and SRMA,” he said. Currently, the SRMA is using a building owned by the East Java Provincial Government on Jalan Kawi, Malang City, and SRMP 16 is housed in the Malang City Polytechnic (Poltekom) building on Jalan Raya Tlogowaru. Regarding the land for a permanent People’s School building in Malang City, Donny stated that construction has been designated in the Arjowinangun area, Kedungkandang District, covering 5.4 hectares. The land to be used for the construction of the permanent People’s School building is an asset owned by the Malang City Government. The construction process and schedule are pending a decision from the central government. Nevertheless, the Malang City Government hopes that the construction of the permanent People’s School building can be carried out quickly so that the programme can reach more children from families classified in deciles 1-2 of the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN). “We hope that a decision for the construction of a permanent People’s School in Malang City will be made by July,” he said.
