Malang Regent's Son Speaks Out After Controversy Over Appointment as Head of Environmental Agency

The son of Malang Regent HM Sanusi, Ahmad Dzulfikar Nurrahman, has spoken out following the controversy over his appointment by his father as Head of the Environmental Agency (DLH) in Malang Regency. Dzulfikar apologised for the disturbance caused. Quoted by detikJatim on Saturday (18/4/2026), Dzulfikar said he understands the public’s doubts regarding his new position. He affirmed that he will work earnestly. “Of course, I understand if the public questions the quality of public officials as servants of the people,” he stated. According to him, the main focus now is to carry out the mandate and bring positive changes for the environment in Malang Regency. Dzulfikar assured that his appointment followed legal and proper procedures. He invited anyone who wishes to investigate the validity of the process. He emphasised that no procedures were skipped during his inauguration. “I cannot provide any response other than through my performance. The process can be checked at the Malang Regency Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency. I have followed all stages according to procedure,” he asserted.
