Malang Regent Appoints Son as Department Head, PDIP Calls for Criticism

Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Hasto Kristiyanto, has requested that the PDIP faction criticise Malang Regent M. Sanusi for inaugurating his biological son, Ahmad Dzulfikar Nurrahman, as Head of the Environmental Office. Sanusi is a cadre of the bull party. “Yes, we have received such information. According to Hasto, a meritocracy system needs to be built. He said that political education does indeed start from the family. However, there should be no unfair practices. “But the principle is that there should be no unfair practices,” he said. According to Hasto, it is unseemly for a father to inaugurate his son. “In Javanese terms, it’s unseemly. The father is the Regent, the son is the department head,” he stated. One of them was Ahmad Dzulfikar Nurrahman, the Regent’s biological son, who was inaugurated as Head of the Environmental Office. The inauguration and swearing-in ceremony for high-ranking leadership positions (JPTP), administrators, supervisors, and functional positions took place solemnly at the Grand Pendopo of Malang Regency, on Monday, 13 April 2026.
