The Malang Customs and Excise Office has issued a Taxable Entrepreneur Number (NPPBKC) to PT Samasta Jaya Calathea, a tobacco products factory located in Sumberpucung, Malang Regency, as part of efforts to encourage the growth of a legal and compliant tobacco industry. The permit was granted after the company met all stipulated requirements, following a business process presentation held at the Malang Customs Office hall on Monday (8/6/2026).

Head of the Malang Customs Office, Johan Pandores, stated on Friday (12/6/2026) that this activity is a crucial step in granting legal status to excisable goods entrepreneurs while ensuring their operations comply with statutory regulations. During the session, the management of PT Samasta Jaya Calathea presented detailed plans and operational mechanisms, covering raw material procurement, tobacco production stages, quality control, inventory management, marketing strategies, distribution systems, and corporate administrative and reporting governance.

Following the presentation, Johan and his team conducted an in-depth review through discussions and a question-and-answer session to verify the alignment of the business processes with excise regulations and the company’s readiness to fulfil its obligations as an excisable goods entrepreneur. Based on the evaluation results, PT Samasta Jaya Calathea was deemed to have met the requirements, leading to the approval of its application and the issuance of the NPPBKC as legal authorisation to operate a tobacco products factory.

Beyond providing legal certainty for business actors, the issuance of the NPPBKC is expected to support the growth of a legal and regulation-abiding tobacco industry. The presence of officially operating businesses is seen as capable of stimulating regional economic activity, fostering a more orderly business climate, and contributing to state revenue, which in turn is utilised to support development and public services.
