Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - The Malang City Government has relocated the construction site for the permanent building of Sekolah Rakyat from the Buring area to Arjowinangun. “To date, the land we have designated remains in Arjowinangun, as a replacement for the site in Buring,” said the Head of the Regional Finance and Assets Agency (BKAD) of Malang City, Subkhan, in Malang, East Java, on Tuesday. He explained that the relocation of the Sekolah Rakyat building construction site was due to issues with land status. Subkhan stated that the planned land for the permanent building is designated as green space, making it unsuitable for any construction. “Arjowinangun covers about five hectares. The Buring site is larger, around 8.9 hectares, but it is green space,” he said. Regarding the implementation plans, Subkhan noted that they are currently awaiting a decision from the central government. The construction process will be carried out by the Ministry of Public Works (PU). Subsequently, operations will fall directly under the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos). Meanwhile, the curriculum for education at Sekolah Rakyat will be under the authority of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). The Head of the Social Services, Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning Agency (Dinsos-P3AP2KB) of Malang City, Donny Sandito, stated that the administrative requirements for relocating the permanent building site for Sekolah Rakyat have been submitted to the central government. Specifically, the permanent building will have a capacity for 1,000 students, covering primary school (SD), junior secondary school (SMP), and senior secondary school (SMA) levels. For information, teaching and learning activities at Sekolah Rakyat in Malang City, or Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 16, have so far been using the Malang City Polytechnic (Poltekom) building on Tlogowaru Street, with 100 students enrolled. There are a total of four classes opened, each filled with 25 students.
