Malang City Government: Free Homecoming Departures from Malang City on 17 March
Widjaja Saleh Putra, Head of Malang City’s Transportation Agency (Dishub), announced on Monday that free homecoming passengers would be dispatched collectively from Malang City Hall.
He explained that registration for the free homecoming programme is centralised at the Public Services Centre (MPP) in Malang City on Jalan Merdeka Timur and operates entirely offline with a quota of 264 participants.
According to him, the offline registration system was chosen to facilitate document verification for prospective participants. The programme is exclusively available to residents of Malang City.
“Registration opened on Monday (9 March) from 09:00 to 15:00 WIB,” he stated.
Malang City’s Transportation Agency has prepared several homecoming routes, namely Malang–Blitar–Tulungagung–Trenggalek–Ponorogo, Malang–Blitar–Kediri–Jombang–Nganjuk–Madiun–Ngawi, and Malang–Lamongan–Bojonegoro. Additional routes include Malang–Lamongan–Tuban, Malang–Probolinggo–Situbondo–Banyuwangi, and Malang–Probolinggo–Lumajang–Jember–Banyuwangi. Routes to Madura Island comprise Malang–Bangkalan and Malang–Sampang.
This approach was adopted to minimise regional budget expenditure.
He urged residents to make full use of the free homecoming facilities provided, emphasising that the programme was designed to help reduce travel costs and alleviate traffic congestion.
