Maktour Owner Requests KPK Reschedule Examination in Hajj Quota Case

Fuad Hasan Masyhur, the owner of hajj organiser PT Makassar Toraja (Maktour), has asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to reschedule his examination as a witness in the alleged corruption case concerning hajj quotas. In a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Monday, Fuad said the request was made because his health condition did not yet permit him to undergo questioning after participating in the hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. “I have now arrived in Indonesia, but my health has deteriorated due to exhaustion. Once my health has recovered, I am ready to comply with the summons for examination,” Fuad said. Meanwhile, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that his agency had received the rescheduling request from Fuad. “Witness FHM has again confirmed a request for rescheduling of the examination that was originally set for today, citing unfit health conditions,” Budi said. “Bearing in mind that every witness statement is needed so that the case investigation process can proceed effectively,” he added. The KPK began its investigation into the alleged corruption in Indonesia’s 2023–2024 hajj quota on 9 August 2025. On 9 January 2026, the KPK named former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and his special staff member, Ishfah Abidal Aziz, also known as Gus Alex, as suspects. The KPK subsequently received the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) audit results on 27 February 2026, which stated that the potential state loss in the case had reached Rp622 billion. The KPK then detained Yaqut on 12 March 2026 at the KPK Red and White Building branch detention centre, while Ishfah was detained on 17 March 2026. Yaqut’s detention status was temporarily changed to house arrest on 19 March 2026 following a family request, but he was returned to the KPK detention centre on 24 March 2026. On 30 March 2026, the KPK named two new suspects: Maktour Operational Director Ismail Adham and former General Chairman of the Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Travel Organisers Association (Kesthuri) Asrul Aziz Taba. Both were subsequently detained on 8 June 2026.
