Makro opens in Tangerang

TANGERANG, West Java (JP): A new Makro outlet was opened
yesterday at the Alam Sutera housing complex, Tangerang, bringing
the number of the retailer's outlets to seven throughout the
country.

The other six are located in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, Kelapa
Gading, North Jakarta, Meruya, West Jakarta, Ciputat, South
Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya.

The opening ceremony, which was conducted in a simple manner,
was attended by high-ranking officials of the local
administration as well as several public figures in the regency.

Effendi Ibnoe, the head of the human resources department of
PT Karabha Unggul/Makro, expressed hope that the presence of the
retailer in Tangerang will cater to the needs of the residents in
the regency's various housing complexes.

"With the opening of the retailer, Tangerang residents do not
have to go to Jakarta any longer for shopping, because the store
offers a wide range of goods and commodities," Effendi said.

The shop is open to public until Oct. 15. After that date, it
will only open for members with Makro cards. (bas)
