Makom Albab Bandung Raya Prepares Academic Programmes for Alumni

BANDUNG — The Bandung Raya branch of the Babakan Alumni Communications Council (Makom Albab) is preparing a number of academic programmes to strengthen the contributions of alumni from Babakan Ciwaringin Islamic Boarding School in Cirebon Regency. The programmes will be proposed ahead of the national conference of Makom Albab’s central board.

Branch chair Sidkon Djampi said the alumni’s potential across a range of fields was an asset for developing the organisation. They include academics, professors, doctors, businesspeople, students, and managers of educational institutions and Islamic boarding schools.

According to Sidkon, one priority is to compile a database of alumni in the Bandung Raya area. It will include their identities, addresses, years of graduation from the pesantren and current activities. Students who are still studying will also be included.

“Our programmes will focus on academic activities. We hope alumni’s ideas and research findings can be contributed to Babakan Ciwaringin Islamic Boarding School, the alumni organisation and West Java,” Sidkon said on Sunday (18 October 2026).

In addition to the database, Makom Albab Bandung Raya is planning a programme called Makom Albab Goes to Campus. It will provide a platform for developing scholarly research, seminars and academic discussions involving alumni working at universities.

Sidkon hopes the activities will produce ideas that benefit the pesantren, alumni and the public. The research findings are also expected to be aligned with West Java’s development programmes.

He added that service to one’s alma mater was an important part of the organisation’s work. With their diverse professional and academic backgrounds, alumni are expected to contribute according to their respective capabilities while upholding the pesantren’s reputation.

Alongside academic development, Makom Albab Bandung Raya will continue religious studies and pesantren devotional practices to preserve the traditions of santri.

“Wherever alumni pursue their work, service to Babakan Ciwaringin Islamic Boarding School must remain a priority. However small their contribution, we want it to benefit the pesantren and the community,” Sidkon said.
