Makkah Municipality Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Catering Contracts
The Makkah municipal government has begun accepting qualification registrations for catering contractors for the 1448 H (2027) Hajj season, effective from 1 Rabiul Akhir, which corresponds to 12 September 2026.
This step is part of the municipality’s early preparations to enhance service readiness for Hajj pilgrims and improve field operational efficiency, in accordance with the highest food quality and safety standards.
The municipality explained that registration is conducted through a dedicated electronic platform for contractor qualifications. Interested entities providing catering services are urged to complete and update their data according to the established qualification requirements, as well as comply with applicable technical and administrative provisions to ensure application approval.
As reported by the Saudi Gazette on Sunday (20/09/202B), the municipality stated that this qualification process aims to guarantee the provision of safe, high-quality food services and increase operational readiness for the Hajj season. This is achieved through the implementation of technical standards and oversight mechanisms that contribute to strengthening the security of the catering system and increasing its efficiency.
Previously, in August 2026, the Standing Committee for Hajj and Umrah held a meeting to discuss plans and arrangements for the 2027 Hajj season, as well as various new projects and services designed to serve pilgrims. The meeting was led by the Deputy Governor of Makkah and Vice Chairman of the committee, Prince Saud bin Mishaal.
In his address during the meeting, Prince Saud emphasised the need to strengthen integration between relevant agencies and to continue developing performance indicators in line with the guidance of the leadership.
The Deputy Governor also stressed the importance of ensuring the highest level of readiness for the upcoming Hajj season, so that pilgrims can perform their rituals with ease and peace of mind.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of the current Umrah season and the services provided to Umrah pilgrims from their arrival in Saudi Arabia until their return to their home countries. The committee also evaluated the performance indicators of relevant agencies and the coordination mechanisms between the sectors involved in the Hajj organisation.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed steps to improve direct coordination and communication between agencies to support operational smoothness and achieve an optimal level of readiness in serving pilgrims.
