Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI), Boyamin Saiman, has reported the KPK leadership, deputies, and spokesperson to the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas). Boyamin reported allegations of ethical violations related to the change in status of former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) to house arrest.

“The KPK leadership automatically because they made decisions and instructed without collective collegiality. One of them and the others as mentioned. Secondly, the KPK spokesperson because he stated that he was healthy and allowed the family to submit the application,” said Boyamin at the KPK Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

“Then Mr Asep Guntur is one of them because he did not order a health check upon release. It was rushed. The health check was only done just before entering here (KPK Detention Centre),” he continued.

Boyamin mentioned that there are nine points listed in his report letter to the Dewas KPK. He suspects there was intervention against the KPK.

“Regarding allegations of external intervention, about the spokesperson stating he was healthy when in fact he was ill. This is like I’m arguing with Mr Deputy. Number three, Mr Deputy said he was ill. But no examination was conducted. How did he know he was ill? It was only later. Whereas it should have been checked at the beginning so there could be an excuse to get out. But because it was rushed, no health check was done, he was released, so Mr Budi Prasetyo said he was healthy,” said Boyamin.

Boyamin stated that his side plans to file a report to Commission III of the DPR RI, which is the KPK’s working partner. He hopes that Commission III of the DPR will summon the KPK leadership.

“Oh, that’s certain (report to Commission III DPR RI). Because the KPK supervisors besides the Supervisory Board are Commission III. At the very least, I will propose a general hearing of opinion, hopefully a working committee, or even higher a special committee. But I will send it soon. Hopefully tomorrow I will send it,” he said.

Yaqut had been under house arrest since Thursday (19/3). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said that house arrest for Yaqut was carried out after the KPK received a request from the family.

The KPK then granted the request, without providing further details on the reasons why Yaqut’s family submitted the application.

“So indeed because there was a request from the family, then we processed it. Not because of illness,” explained Budi on Sunday (22/3).

This then drew criticism from many parties. The KPK then returned Yaqut’s status to detention centre inmate on Tuesday (24/3).

Most recently, Yaqut was examined as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the distribution of additional hajj quotas for 2023-2024 today. The KPK is delving into the role of other parties in the case.
