MAKI Appreciates Prabowo's Handling of Febrie Adriansyah Case
The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) supports the transfer of three corruption cases previously handled by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). MAKI also expressed gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto for taking control of the matter. MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman stated that the President’s quick action to manage the handling of the alleged corruption case linked to Febrie Adriansyah, a former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, was commendable. He said the order to transfer the case from Kortas Tipikor to the Attorney General’s Office returns the legal process to the correct path, preventing unnecessary commotion in the fight against corruption. Boyamin assessed that the transfer was appropriate to avoid unneeded uproar. He argued that if the case is handled by the Attorney General’s Office, it will proceed according to legal corridors without obstacles, whereas police handling would create an impression of conflict and rivalry. He added that such a situation would lead to a mutual exposure of faults, causing more controversy and negativity, ultimately hindering the goal of eradicating corruption. Boyamin noted that President Prabowo’s message to law enforcement officials in this case was correct, aiming to prevent wild issues. He described the President’s action as elegant management of government, ensuring all institutions under his control do not act recklessly. Previously, House of Representatives Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman revealed President Prabowo’s desire for all law enforcement officers to remain solid and work maximally. Commission III has decided to form a Working Committee to oversee the case involving Febrie Adriansyah and will summon all related parties. Habiburokhman emphasised that the high-profile cases concerning coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel corruption are linked to individuals, not institutions, and the commission will ensure no excesses or friction occur between institutions during the investigation. Kortas Tipikor Chief Inspector General Totok Suharyanto confirmed that Febrie Adriansyah and Don Ritto have been named suspects. The case has now been officially transferred to the Attorney General’s Office.
